HALTON MAGISTRATES COURT IS NO MORE

In a move which is said to lead to the loss of 90 jobs in the area the only remaining court covering the borough of Halton has now closed together with the Merseyside Central Payment And Enforcement Unit which was also based in the building.

Local Cllr Dave Thompson has recently revealed, from data obtained from a Freedom of Information Act application, that the cost of holding a hearing at Halton is £43 which is far below the national average of £150.

Warrington Crown Court will now serve as a combined Magistrates and Crown Court covering North Cheshire areas.
